The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce Announces Aaron Cox, IOM as President & CEO

(The Woodlands, TX – August 28, 2024 – 8:00 am) - The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce it has chosen Aaron Cox, IOM to serve as the Chamber’s President and CEO.  Cox is an experienced chamber and not for profit professional who is committed to the success of businesses, communities and people.

Ann Wolford, 2024-2025 Chairman of the Chamber Board of Directors said: “We are thrilled to welcome Aaron Cox as CEO of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce. Aaron brings a true commitment to member engagement, and we are excited about the fresh perspectives and strategic direction he brings as we plan this next chapter in the Chamber’s history. We look forward to a bright future of growth and expanding opportunities for our Chamber and its members.”

Cox is a strategic leader with a proven track record of building strong relationships and successfully growing member-driven organizations.  He passionately believes that a strong Chamber of Commerce that is serving, supporting, connecting, innovating and advocating on behalf of its members and the community is vital to continue growing the thriving business community in The Woodlands in support of the local economy.

Aaron joins the team with more than 20 years of experience serving businesses, people and communities.  He has served over fifteen years in the chamber of commerce industry with state chambers in Texas and Kentucky and their statewide chamber professionals associations.  He has successfully led agencies, projects and initiatives in business advocacy and public policy at the state and federal levels, workforce development, economic development, transportation and other human services issues.

Cox thrives on serving people, innovating and working to create both an environment and opportunities for others to reach their potential.  At the Chamber this commitment will continue as he passionately pursues the mission to create pathways of opportunities for the businesses of The Woodlands area.

Cox will assume the role of President and CEO on September 16, 2024.

The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce

Aaron Cox has been named the President & CEO of the Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce where he will lead the organizations day to day operations and services to its more than 1,300 members.

Cox will join the chamber most recently having served as the Executive Director of the Texas Chapter of the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA).  At BIAA, Aaron works with brain injury survivors and families, clinicians and practitioners, and business leaders to provide support and services for those who have suffered brain injuries and education for the practitioners that serve them throughout the state.

Before BIAA, Aaron led a team of eleven professionals focused on development and raising funds to advance the mission of the American Cancer Society.  Most of his career has been working in and serving chambers of commerce.  With the chamber, Cox served as the senior vice-president for the Texas Association of Business (TAB) and the executive director for the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives (TCCE).

For TAB, Aaron oversaw internal operations, membership sales, onboarding and retention efforts for the association.  In addition, he worked with a team of professionals to align member benefits to fit the needs of Texas businesses.  Also, as part of his role, he coordinated and oversaw the development and deployment of grassroots advocacy networks, created legislative research, insight and education materials for chambers of commerce.  Ultimately, he and the team worked to inspire businesses and chambers to be strong advocates in the effort to create the best business climate in the world, in Texas.

TCCE is the state association for chamber professionals.  In his role with the association Aaron worked with the TCCE Board of Director and oversaw, training and professional education, operational & organizational consultation and development of operational resources to empower chamber professionals in their daily work while helping their organizations become more effective, efficient and profitable.

Prior to joining TAB/TCCE, Aaron worked for the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce in a similar role.  Before that he served as an associate executive director for two not-for profits where he led initiatives in workforce development, transportation, independent childcare and several youth programs. In these roles he also worked with legislators at the state and federal levels on numerous policy and funding initiatives.
